Sightline Survey · San Francisco

Where are you?

Report how you see three landmarks and the survey shades the neighborhoods you could be standing in, then ranks the five most likely. Directions are relative to whichever way you face — describe all three from the same stance and the heading is solved for you. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom.

The Bay is the water between SF and Oakland — its eastern waterfront, not the ocean or Golden Gate side. Which way is one of eight compass points from your facing — front, front-right, right, back-right, and so on — and you can set it even under “Can’t see it,” since you usually know a landmark is off to your left even when a hill or building hides it. Near / Far is a few blocks vs across town. Tower visibility is a heuristic, so read the result as neighborhoods, not a GPS pin.
